Why does Porto Rico get a say in who our next president is and Washington DC does not?
McCain just won the primary in Porto Rico.
Washington DC does not get to vote.
This is just wrong.
Ok fine, even if DC gets a primary, why does Porto Rico get any say.
Justagirl - If Puerto Ricans were US citizens they wouldn't have to be naturalized citizens when they come to this country.
Puerto Rico is a US territory but is not part of the US.
Puerto Rico is not a state. They don't get any votes at all in the Electoral College. Neither do the non-states of Guam, the Virgin Islands, Washington, D.C., or France and Canada.
If the Republican Party wants to choose their candidate by a process that includes Puerto Rico but not Washington, DC, that's their business. They are not (contrary to popular belief) a part of the federal government.
